Ryan Crouser, representing Nike and the United States, won the men's shot put with a fifth-round mark of 75-3.25 (22.94m) at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Crouser surpassed the championship record of 75-2 (22.91m) achieved in 2019 in Doha by Joe Kovacs to capture his first World outdoor title after securing a pair of Olympic gold medals. Kovacs, the World champion in 2015 and 2019, produced a fifth-round mark of 75-1.25 (22.89m) to capture silver and Josh Awotunde also achieved a personal-best effort of 73-1.75 (22.29m) in the fifth round to earn bronze, helping the U.S. achieve its first sweep in the men's shot put in meet history.
