Ethiopian standout Gudaf Tsegay set the world record by clocking 14:00.21 in the women's 5,000 meters to capture the Diamond League title at the Nike Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Tsegay eclipsed the 14:05.20 achieved June 9 in Paris by Kenya's Faith Kipyegon to become the first Ethiopian female athlete to capture the Diamond League crown in the 5,000 since Almaz Ayana in 2016.
