Ryan Hill plans to mix it up in the 3,000 final in the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships

Emerging U.S. distance star Ryan Hill has made himself at home.

"I have fully embraced Portland life and culture," Hill said recently over beverages at Coffee House Northwest.

So much so that Hill, who lived in North Carolina for the first 23 years of his life before coming west to join the Bowerman Track Club in 2013, became a big Portland Timbers fan during last year's surge to the MLS Cup.

"It was fantastic," Hill said.
