Get to Know 400m (and 200m) Sprinter LaShawn Merritt

We are just days away from the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Thousands of athletes will descend upon the city after months and months of preparation in search for Gold. Last fall I the pleasure of interviewing one of those athletes, Olympic Gold Medalist Sprinter LaShawn Merritt. At the time he was preparing for the IAAF World Championships in Beijing where he won Silver in the 400m and Gold in the 4x400m relay. 

Track and Field is one of the highlights of the Olympics for me as a runner and LaShawn was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me again in advance of the Rio games: 

Mar on the Run: What are you most excited about as you head into Rio?

LaShawn Merritt: I’m excited to take on this 200m, 400m double that many people don’t attempt to do. And to just go and represent the United States at the Olympics again for the third time.
